Sylvia,I just finished your latest novel, Season of Iron, two nights ago. I was delighted with your characters, the parallel plots in the present and past, and the interesting historical information you presented as part of your story. I'm encouraging my daughter and bookclub members to read your book, too, because I think it raises some interesting moral questions. My bookclub, the Subway Subversives, who live in Bloor West Village, would love the opportunity to invite you to one of their book club meetings. Another member is Elaine Freedman, whom you know, I think, from the mystery writers group. There are about 13 of us.I'm not Jewish, but I appreciated the window into the different Jewish perspectives in the book -- the Orthodox versus the nonreligious, etc. I found the two settings very interesting. Since I know the area of Toronto you were writing about, I could see the Toronto scenes very clearly in my head. I am interested in the Holocaust and that era in Germany, so the historical detail was fascinating. I have read your second book as well -- and I also enjoyed it. I haven't been able to find a copy of your first novel. Do you have any suggestions where I might find it?By the way, I'm one of your husband's patients. He is a wonderful doctor and human being, as you well know. I am thrilled to have found someone (a referral from a friend) who is not only very knowledgeable and careful with prescriptions but also a very compassionate human being.
